A QUICK HELLO AND RE-INTRODUCTION
Some of Picture Papers. most popular posts, un-paywalled for a this week only, AND 20% off Annual Subscriptions.
Hi guys,
I wanted to jump on here in between work trips as I’ve had a flurry of new subscribers over the past couple of weeks who might feel like I’m a bit absent. As my longer term followers will know, this month i’m travelling lots so, instead of the usual written weekly diaries, I'm doing a video diary update at the end of March, and a recorded Q&A. In the mean time I thought i’d jump on here and give newcomers a bit of an update and introduction in between shoots.
So firstly, welcome to Picture Papers. Thank you so much for joining us. I’ve been a full time professional photographer since 2020 (and part time before that) but if you want to hear more about my personal story you can read or listen here.
As you may have gathered by now, Picture Papers. is a series of diaries, photoshoot case studies, interviews and commentaries on life as a fashion and lifestyle photographer. Each week, for all subscribers (both free and paid) - I write a detailed diary of what i’ve done that week, with business insights, equipment updates (and learnings from mistakes…) all thrown in, to give you a day-to-day breakdown of the business side of being a photographer. Running a photography business is something that you can build on every day in different ways, so running through everything I’ve done in a week to build on my career, from shooting itself, right down to outreach, pitching, darkroom printing and even admin. Everyone’s business and outlook is different, and this is just mine, but I hope that these diaries give you some inspiration for steps you might be able to take to drive yourself forward. Or make you feel as thought you’re not alone when you have days or weeks that aren’t particularly productive - because we all have them. After a few weeks the diaries go behind the paywall but today I’ve made them free to read all week so you can have a raid of the archive and see what they are all about.
In addition to that, each month I do something just for Paid Subscribers: an in depth case study of a shoot, an interview with someone from the industry or a deep dive into a specific subject like partnering with hotels, shooting interiors, specific lighting set ups in detail with equipment lists and positions, or a long form audio Q&A answering all your questions.
This week I’m taking the paywall off some of our most listened to Paid items so you can get a taster of what’s behind it. If you like what you read or hear, please do consider upgrading to a Paid Subscription for just £4.99 a month. For just over £1 a week you can get all this valuable information, as well as access to a job board and a private subscribers chat. Plus, you give me the impetus to plough more time into the channel. The more paid subscribers = the more time I can dedicate to this newsletter, and the more we all get out of it.
Alternatively, for the rest of the month, I’m offering 20% off annual subscriptions - giving you a whole year’s worth of content for just £40.
If you want to have a taster before you commit - here’s a few of our most popular posts, un-paywalled for the rest of this week.
