INTERVIEW 004: Mark Anthony Fox

Wow team - it’s taken me a while to get to this point, via a few delays (one being a deletion of the entire edited file and spending all day today trying to get it back - not a great few hours) but we’re here, with Mark Anthony Fox, the esteemed lifestyle photographer, who I caught up with a couple of weeks ago.

I’m sure a lot of you know his work, but for those who don’t, Mark is a London-based interiors and travel photographer who’s regular client and editorial commissions come from the likes of Belmond, Door Republica, FTHTSI, House & Garden, and Soho House, to name a very small fraction. When you idly scroll through your feed, Mark’s work is instantly recognisable, having an almost tangibly warm and buttery soft quality which make you feel as though you could step straight into the world he’s created. On a personal level, Mark has been a bit of a confidant of mine the past year or so, or rather an agony Aunt who I go to when I’m struggling to decide what kit to buy. After chatting, it turns out he acts in this capacity for quite a few people so he’s not only a great photographer but also very generous with his time and expertise which is a real testament to his character as well as his talent and curiosity. He’s someone who’s always on the hunt for the perfect image, and always honing his craft, and most inspiringly, has achieved such amazing things without the help of an agent, or working his way up through assisting, which I know will resonate with some or (a lot!) of you.

We chatted about how he started out, and his journey into interiors, working with hotels, imposter syndrome, and the importance of community within this field. I hope you enjoy :)
